My Journey into the World of Interpreting – the story of the company’s founder, Paraschiva B.
In the 1990s, Romania was being (re)discovered by Germans, who began visiting more frequently during that time – exploring new friendships, launching businesses, and offering foreign aid to help Romania thrive.
Having mastered the German language and grown familiar with the German business landscape, I found myself at a crossroads in my career. I took a leap of faith and swapped careers, diving headfirst into the world of translation. As the demand for interpretation exploded, I embraced the diversity of fields that opened before me.
But it was in those early days of interpreting that I truly discovered the magic of my work. I watched as two people, strangers bound by silence, suddenly found a shared rhythm, their words no longer foreign but familiar. It wasn’t just speech I was translating—it was hope, intention, the fragile thread of trust. I witnessed partnerships take sha pe; ideas once locked behind language bloom into possibility. In those moments, I didn’t just interpret, I helped people see each other, and in doing so, helped something new begin.
Throughout my career as an interpreter, I’ve witnessed high-stakes negotiations charged with tension—where arguments clashed, egos were bruised, and major contracts hung in the balance. In those moments, words alone were no longer enough. It was here that I truly understood the role of the interpreter. Our work goes beyond mere communication – we are the facilitators of human connection.
Nowhere is this truth more visible than in the situations I’ve faced while interpreting in medical settings – where clarity and trust are everything. Bridging the gap between doctors and patients, especially in moments of fear and uncertainty, is one of the most fulfilling aspects of interpreting.
In the end, the best moments of an interpreter’s career are the firm handshakes and the genuine smiles of satisfaction – the unspoken acknowledgment that, through their work, something meaningful has been achieved. Communication has taken place. Understanding has been forged. And two people – sometimes from opposite sides of the world – have connected in a way that would never have been possible without the interpreter’s touch.
